The National Federation of Residential Landlords (www.nfrl.co.uk) is the voice of responsible landlords. It promotes their interests, seeks to ensure the highest standards of service within the private rented sector and provides a means to resolve disputes between landlords and tenants fairly.

The NFRL, which co-ordinates the activities of landlords associations across the UK, regularly lobbies national government to further the interests of private landlords and has a unique and productive working relationship with local authorities through the Working Together initiative.

It was formed in 1996 as national umbrella to unify and co-ordinate the activities of the various landlords associations as there was no national representation for Landlords in existence. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. Our aim is to encourage good practice and responsible landlords who provide safe accommodation.

The NFRL is one of the largest nationally recognised body and represents and supports landlords via affiliated landlords associations throughout the UK. It is a nationally recognised body of residential landlords which is consulted regularly by the Government, Judiciary and Media and other national organisations.

It offers comprehensive support for new and established landlords, including an annual conference, full colour magazine with latest news and legal updates, and a wide range of discounts with suppliers.

Promoting Good Practice

Established a National Code of Practice outlining the landlords' legal obligations and acting as a statement of standards. Based on the RICS code and endorsed by Government.

Information, Advice and Support

Publishes the national journal, Successful Renting on a quarterly basis, containing articles on a wide range of issues of interest to all landlords, both new and established. The magazine keeps affiliated members up to date on all issues affecting the private rented sector.

Our Annual Conference each June acts as the national forum for private residential landlords. Includes plenary lectures, seminars, workshops, trade stands and excellent networking opportunities. Guest speakers have included Government, government agencies, local authority and industry representatives.

Launched the landlords' handbook, Residential Letting, providing an exhaustive reference guide to letting containing a wealth of information on how to be a landlord, from setting up a tenancy correctly to the legal obligations.
